Oregon Web Printer says the switch to violet was a no-brainer!!

Here at Oregon Lithoprint, lowering material and labor costs for the business were key considerations when we moved to ECRM's NEWSmatic platemakers.

Oregon Lithoprint speciallizes in cold-set, open-web printing, along with bindery and mailing services.  We have 70 employees, working two shifts, printing newspapers, periodicals, and catalogs for hundreds of clients, including universities, wholesale suppliers, trade associations, and publishers.  Along with me as Pre-Press Manager, there are two daytime prepress technicians.

For us, the switch to violet was a no-brainer.  I decided violet technology fit our work environment better than thermal would --- smaller footprint, less intiial investment, less cost of ownership, long laser life --- and it was an easy system to implement.  I don't have to have ovens and turning units.

We installed the first CTP system in 2006, and word of mouth was a big reason we decided on the ECRM solution.  I contacted many users of this equipment, and all gave excellent reports regarding the durability and ease of use of the ECRM NEWSmatics. It was the users who sold me.

And that investment --- and the recommendations --- have paid off.  The more streamlined workflow has led to a reduction of material costs.  Film was eliminated entirely from the operation.  And we were able to reduce the department size by two personnel.  The company has also seen an increase in image quality; in fact, the owner of Oregon Lithoprint's sister company, the local newspaper which we also print, made a point of commenting on how improved the overall images were.  They reported an instant improvement in quality, especially in the images.
